Hi, I'm Eli. I'm a therapist based in Arlington, Massachusetts. I work with children, adolescents and adults.

I hope you can get a sense of who I am and how I approach therapy. If you think we might be a good fit, I'd be happy to discuss working together.

About me

About me

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who works with children, adolescents, and adults. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings, including residential and inpatient programs, a high school guidance department, a college counseling center, community mental health, and private practice. In addition to my private practice, I work as a mental health clinician within a pediatric practice, where I collaborate with pediatricians, families, schools, and other providers to support children and adolescents with a range of emotional, behavioral, and developmental concerns.

A significant part of my practice is working with children and their families. Children do not always communicate what they are experiencing through words, so therapy with kids often looks different from therapy with adults. Depending on a child's age and needs, sessions may incorporate play, games, creative activities, conversation, and more structured skill building. I work with children experiencing anxiety, difficulties with emotional regulation, school-related challenges, ADHD and executive functioning concerns, family transitions, peer difficulties, and other issues that can arise as children grow and develop.

Working with parents is often an important part of treatment. I meet with parents separately for parent consultation and coaching. These meetings can help us better understand what may be driving a child's behavior, identify patterns that have developed within the family, and find practical ways for parents to respond differently at home. I also collaborate with schools, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and other professionals when doing so can help a child.

My approach is integrative rather than based on a single type of therapy. Psychodynamic theory remains an important foundation of my work and helps me think about relationships, development, patterns of behavior, and the meaning underneath symptoms. I also draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, behavioral and parent coaching approaches, and other evidence-based interventions depending on the needs of the person or family I am working with.

Across these different approaches, I believe that the therapeutic relationship is central to meaningful change. With children in particular, I want therapy to be a place where they can feel comfortable being themselves, rather than simply another place where an adult is telling them what they need to do differently. From that foundation, we can work together to better understand what is getting in the way and help children and families develop new ways of managing difficult feelings, relationships, and situations.

Services

Child and Adolescent Therapy

I work with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, ADHD and executive functioning concerns, school challenges, peer and family difficulties, life transitions, and other emotional or behavioral concerns.

Therapy is tailored to each child's developmental level and personality. For younger children, this often means incorporating play, games, and creative activities into our work. With older children and adolescents, therapy may involve a combination of conversation, skill building, CBT, mindfulness, and exploration of relationships and emotional experiences.

Parent Consultation and Coaching

Parents are an important part of the therapeutic process, particularly when I am working with younger children. I meet separately with parents as needed to better understand what is happening at home, think together about challenging behaviors or family dynamics, and develop practical strategies for responding to their child's needs.

Parent meetings also give us an opportunity to step back from immediate conflicts and consider what a child's behavior may be communicating and what changes within the family might help.

Adult Psychotherapy

I work with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, identity concerns, and other challenges. My work with adults is primarily psychodynamic, with a focus on developing a deeper understanding of emotional experiences, relationships, and patterns that may be contributing to current difficulties.

My rate is $250 per 45 minute session.

I see clients virtually and in person at my Arlington, MA office.

I am not affiliated with any insurance companies.

I can provide you with a bill including the necessary information to seek reimbursement. For health insurance purposes, I am considered an "out-of-network provider" rather than an "in-network provider". If your health insurance plan has out-of-network coverage (most PPO or POS plans do), my services may be covered in full or in part by your insurance or employee benefit plan.If you have any questions about whether your plan will cover my services, it may help to call your health insurance's member services and ask the following questions:

‍ ‍
●  Do I have "out-of-network" benefits for psychotherapy?
‍ ‍
●  What is my "out-of-network" deductible and has it been met?
‍ ‍
●  What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
‍ ‍
●  Is approval required from my primary care physician?
‍ ‍
